Spring 2014 Recreation Season Update Minimize

Due to the weather/snow coverage, we do not expect the grass fields to open before mid April.  Therefore, we are postponing the recreation soccer season.   Please read the following carefully.

1) The Saturday games/sessions will now begin on April 26th and end on June 21st (we will not play on Memorial Day weekend).   If your child is registered for a division that practices during the week, practices will begin on April 21st.

2) Teams will not be distributed until mid April.

3) Game and practice schedules will not be finalized until the week of April 14th.  They will depend on field availability.

4) Registration is still open and we need you to register ASAP, so we can figure out how many teams we can form in each division and if we can clear the waitlists.  Registration will close on March 31st.

5) Thank you to all the volunteers who have signed up.  It looks like we have all divisions covered.  If you signed up as a coach, you need to fulfill the coach requirements
(Coach Requirements) before you will be allowed to coach.  If you forgot to enter this information when you signed up as a coach, please log back into the system and enter it.

WHSA Soccer Info Line - Status & Cancellations Minimize
NOTE: Before going to the field, always check on field conditions and program/game/practice cancellations by contacting the WHSA Soccer Info Line @ 908-647-8342

Cancellations can occur up to 1 hour before program/game/practice start times, this includes Saturday games. Games/programs/practices in progress may also be delayed or cancelled due to changes in weather, especially lightning and thunder which require all players to leave the field for a minimum of 30 minutes - see our policy at Weather.  If weather changes during the day, all efforts will be made to update the Info Line.

So programs/games/practices with an early morning start time may be played and, if the weather changes during the day, later programs/games/practices may be cancelled.

Please note that the individual BOE and Town Recreation Departments determine if fields are open or closed and these decisions are often made early in the morning on weekends and in the afternoon on weekdays.

In addition, WHSA monitors radar to determine if weather will change for the better or worse before updating program/game/practice status. WHSA makes every effort to hold programs/games/practices on the day scheduled as there is limited or no opportunity to make up any cancellations and therefore WHSA will wait until up to an hour prior to the start time to cancel.
